Establishment of joint programs is to assist Chinese colleges to realize international cooperation and communication, and through the development and integration of resources, to improve their international educational concepts, course structures and teacher team building, teaching models and student training aims. It also serves to raise the reputation of the colleges in the teaching areas in both China and overseas.
     
April 2003, ICRO introduced the Australian TAFE system to China Electricity Council and its 8 member higher power vocational and technical colleges in major provinces, in order to establish an international joint platform with industry support, with the colleges being the operating body of the program. This project has become the reform project of higher vocational education for The China Ministry of Education. It has now been developed in 11 higher and secondary vocational schools around the country with over 1000 enrolled students.
   
A successful joint high school program for Lushan Experimental High School with Australian and UK high schools was established in 1999 with the support of Hunan Provincial Education Department, which provided safe and smooth pathways for students’ further overseas study. Now, most students in the project have entered Master programs.
